Last Tuesday, Bushiroad held a conference revealing its new anime project, titled Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood. The anime’s PV revealed the opening to be “Exist” by RAISE A SUILEN.
Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood will be a historical anime set in an alternate version of 1931 Japan. In this version, the Tokugawa shogunate was never abolished and the Meiji emperor was never brought back to power.

Within this new society, there is an organization called “Nue”, who are a group of shogunate executioners whose purpose is to enforce the shogunate rule. As a warning to Japanese history buffs, it should be clear at this point that there will be intentional historical discrepancies in the anime.

Here is the cast list:
- Shouta Aoi as Makoto Tsukishiro
- Ayasa Itō as Asahi Nakamura
- Suzuko Mimori as Sawa Yukimura
- Raychell as Elena Hanakaze
- Chikahiro Kobayashi as Jin Kuzuhara
In the past, Bushiroad has worked on Love Live! School Idol Project and Haganai: I don’t have many friends. This new anime seems to be of a more serious tone, so it’ll be interesting to see how Bushiroad drives the story of the show.

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is set to premiere on April 6 on the NTV channel. Episodes will also release one week early on Hulu Japan.
There is a stage adaptation of Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood in the works and is set to premiere sometime in the Fall. A manga adaptation is also currently in the works.
