The World Ends With You Anime Gets Release Date and Promo Video

Gamers, weebs, and all of you beautiful souls who walk between both worlds, we’ve uncovered a fantastic piece of news! On Saturday, Feb. 5th, Funimation announced that the anime adaptation of the smash hit video game The World Ends With You will be released in Japan on April 9th.

To make things even better, there is also a promotional video you can watch that showcases our first listen to the show’s OP: “TEENAGE CITY RIOT,” by ALI.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely not sick of all these jazzy, high-tempo openings that we’ve been getting as of late.

As for show staff, we know that it’s being made by Shin-Ei Animation and is being directed by Kazuya Ichikawa (Pokémon Generations, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo).

The last thing you’re going to want to take a look at is the brand new key visual.

For Western viewers curious about how they will be able to stream this show, it was also announced that it will be simulcast exclusively through the Funimation service.

Last time we talked about this franchise, we brought you info on the upcoming sequel game. Seems like we have a lot to look forward to!

TWEWY is considered JRPG royalty, have you played it? Or perhaps you’re like me and you’re looking forward to the opportunity to finally see what this story is all about. Let us know in the comments!
