The Japanese female idol group Nogizaka46 recently released an animated music video for their newest single, “Boku wa Boku wo Suki ni Naru.” Boku wa Boku wo Suki ni Naru was released on January 27, and it marks the 26th single from Nogizaka46.
The music video was made through a collaboration between the animation studio monofilmo and Sumito Ōwara, who created the “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!” anime. Owara oversaw the script, the storyboard, and original illustrations, while monofilmo handled the animation.
Chiai Kanno is also credited as the animation director in the video description. Owara expressed his gratitude for Kanno and the rest of the staff in a tweet.

“The animation director, Chiai Kanno, and the rest of the staff were so talented that I was honestly brought to my knees,” Owara said.
The music video for Boku wa Boku wo Suki ni Naru seems to depict a girl who belongs to the air bike club and struggles with her passion after sustaining an injury, devoting herself to school life and club activities while isolating herself. Owara talked about the story behind the music video.
“I came up with a situation where, thanks to an extended hand from friends, the main character is able to get back to the days when she was genuinely having fun,” Owara said.

Owara also commented on the videos production.
“The hardest part was the deadline,” Owara said. “We were short on time, so we used video editing software to create a ‘V-con‘ by pasting pictures over the song…it allowed us to intuitively compose pictures for the song, and it also made it easy to share images within the team. Fortunately, I am both from the film club and an active YouTuber, so video editing itself is something I was already familiar with.”

I watched the video before writing this and I want to say that it was an experience. The song is beautiful and it compliments the story.
But what about you guys? Did you watch the video? did you like the song? Are you going to listen to more music from Nogizaka46? Let me know in the comments!
