It’s official. The Attack on Titan manga series will end on April 9, 2021. This fantastic series first started publishing in September 2009. Over ten years later, we will finally see the conclusion.
It’s difficult to condense Attack on Titan‘s premise into one solid summary. At first, we believe the storyline is humanity’s attempt at survival against the man-eating titans. However, the story takes a turn to explain the politics that caused the suffering in the first place. From time travel to racism to World War II references, Attack on Titan packs it all into one fantastic series.
Alongside the final chapter’s announcement, the cover for the final volume was released as well. The volume will make its debut in Japan on June 9, 2021. Since the final volume’s cover does contain spoilers, the photo will be included in the second half of this article.
With ten episodes left in Attack on Titan The Final Season, it doesn’t seem like the anime will cover the conclusion of the series, especially since the anime and manga will conclude around the same time. This makes our theory, in our article on Attack on Titan The Final Season finale predictions, about the final season receiving a second part all the more plausible.
Having a second part to the final season will also give MAPPA animators a chance to take their time to animate the season. With employees overworking themselves and their burnout coming to light, they definitely need a break.
Do not read below if you have not caught up with the manga!
At this point in the manga, Eren Jaegar’s position has shifted from destroying all titans that eat humans to becoming the titan that kills the humans. The most recent chapter that released on January 9, 2021 featured a small group, made up of Eren’s friends from the Survey Corps and new ones from Marley, strategizing how to save Armin and successfully stop Eren.
This intense battle has been going on for a couple of chapters now, and it’s difficult to determine how it’s going to end. Manga readers also feel torn between whether they support Eren or not. While Eren’s personality takes a huge turn after he touches Historia’s hand, his goal remains the same. Despite his methods developing into eliminating everyone, even people who were not involved in the mistreatment of Eldians, readers understand somewhat that this is the method to create freedom for everyone for good.
There aren’t many hints from previous chapters as to how the series will end. But, I know the ending will be just as mind-blowing as the entire series has been already.
Which side are you on? How do you think the series will end? Let us know in the comments!
