AnimeNEXT 2021 will be Virtual

On January 6th, AnimeNext staff announced on their website and their socials that AnimeNext 2021 is going to be a virtual event.

Considering that COVID is still a thing, it’s safe to say that no one is shocked to hear about this at all.

On December 18th, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced, that the Atlantic City Convention Center, among other places, is going to become a “mega-site,” for the COVID vaccine starting this January.

When the AnimeNext staff heard about this development and discovered that the vaccine “mega-site” will be around in June, they made the decision to make this year’s convention virtual.

If you had tickets for AnimeNext 2020 that were supposed to roll over into this year, there’s some good news! The tickets that you have will roll over into 2022.

On the other hand, if you were on the waitlist for tickets, sadly the waitlist has been canceled, but you can go to the virtual convention for free so….yay. A win! Also, registration for AnimeNext 2022 will be open after the virtual convention is over on June 13th, so there’s definitely a good chance to get tickets.

There isnt a lot of information about who will be at AnimeNext 2021, at this time. But if you want to know more details about the event as more information comes out, you can follow AnimeNEXT on their Twitter and Facebook.
