New Promotional Video for an anime of The New Prince OF Tennis: Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future has been released. This is a new, non adapted story following Hyotei vs Rikkai, whoever they may be. The series is from director Keiichiro Kawaguchi, writer Mitsutaka Hirota, and character designer Akiharu Ishii.
Older Anime fans may remember the original series airing on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block over a decade ago. The original series follows Ryoma Echizen, a tennis prodigy attending Seishun Academy, a notorious middle school with an even more illustrious tennis team. As a kid, the show did not capture my attention. There was a sense of melodrama that just couldn’t quite evoke my interest as a youth. Yet, this show is without a doubt one of the most popular sports anime of all time.
Takeshi Konomi’s original manga has spanned, 42 volumes, 178 episodes, 27 OVA episodes, another series with 6 volumes, another another series that is ongoing 31 volumes, and then another 13 episode anime series, some video games, a live-action movie, and so on. Apparently, the series was not boring for many people. Perhaps I should binge it!
The anime’s first part is slated to air on February 13th on the U-NEXT streaming service.
