On December 5th, the official Code Geass project Twitter account live streamed the newest projects in the Code Geass series on YouTube. What was unveiled was a new anime and a smartphone game!
The new anime will be titled Code Geass: Z of the Recapture. The anime was also teased in the YouTube reveal through the ending of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection ending. Ohashi Yoshimitsu will be directing the new series and Kimura Noboru will be writing the script. Kimura Takahiro will be designing the characters and Astrays will be desiging the Knightmare mecha. All of the staff members, aside from Astrays, have worked on previous Code Geass projects.
The new smartphone game is called Code Geass: Genesic Re:CODE. The game will feature Lelouch, Akito, and many other characters. According to Anime News Network, some of the new characters to the Code Geass franchise include:
- Al, a boy with no memories, voiced by Horie Shun
- Gigi, a mysterious girl, voiced by Takada Yuki
- Archive, the librarian of the memory library, voiced by Hanamori Yumiri
The smartphone game will allow players to experience the Code Geass they know and love from the anime series. The game will also be comprised of role-playing game and simulation elements. There will be brand new stories and never before seen illustrations. The Code Geass staff says the game is “the official sequel to the Code Geass franchise.” The game plans to launch sometime in Spring 2021.
Currently, there is no mention on whether the smartphone game will release with an English translation nor what countries it will be available in.
