The first 2021 issue of Shonen Jump magazine revealed that the second season of the Dr. Stone anime will premiere on January 14, 2021. Dr. Stone: Stone Wars will air on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, BS11, and TV Aichi in Japan. The series will also premiere online. Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide except in Asia, and Funimation will stream a dubbed version of the series.
Crunchyroll released the official trailer Dr. Stone: Stone Wars on YouTube in September. Crunchyroll also released a special feature on YouTube last month.
The old cast members will be returning for the second season of Dr. Stone and there will be some new additions to the cast as well. Kensho Ono will be voicing Ukyō Saionji, Yoshiki Nakajima will be voicing Yō Uei, and Atsumi Tanezaki will be voicing Nikki Hanada.
Shinya Iino, who directed series like Made in Abyss, is directing the second season of Dr. Stone at TMS Entertainment. Additionally, Yuichiro Kido, who did episode scripts for series like Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga and 91 Days, is also returning to the team to supervise and write the scripts for Dr. Stone: Stone Wars. Yuko Iwasa will also be returning to the team to design the characters for this season of Doctor Stone.
As far as the soundtrack for Dr. Stone: Stone Wars is concerned, Tatsuya Katō, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Yuki Kanesaka are composing the music. Fujifabric will perform the opening theme song “Rakuen” (Paradise), and Hatena will perform the ending theme song “Koe?” (Voice?).
The first season of Dr. Stone gained a lot of popularity in Japan and the US when it was released in June 2019 (as it should). Based on the first season’s well-deserved notoriety, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars looks like it’s going to be a great addition to the Winter 2021 anime lineup.
