That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Promotional Video Reveals New Characters

The popular isekai anime, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime or Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, released a promotional video for its second season on November 8th. The video is viewable on the official BANDAI NAMCO Arts YouTube channel or on the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime official website.

Let’s quickly recap what happened in the first season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, since the first season finished airing in March 2019. The story follows Satoru Mikami, a office worker who’s content with his life but struggles to get a girlfriend. One day, Satoru is attacked and stabbed. While dying, a voice echoes in his mind and recites a bunch of unintelligible words. Satoru suddenly regains his consciousness, however he’s in an unfamiliar world and he’s now a slime!

He discovers new abilities, such as being able to devour anything, take on its appearance, and use its abilities. He comes across the Catastrophe-level monster, “Storm Dragon” Veldora, who has been sealed for the past 300 years. Satoru feels bad for Veldora, befriends him, and promises to help unseal him. As a sign of thanks, Veldora gives Satoru the name Rimuru Tempest, which grants him divine protection.

As per the promotional video, the opening theme will be “Storyteller” by TRUE and the ending theme will be by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION. However, the main focus of the promotional video are the eight new cast members.

Here are a couple of the new character designs. A full list of new characters, their designs, and their voice actors is accessible on Comic Natalie.

Hinata Sakaguchi, voiced by Manami Numakura (Kohaku in Dr. Stone and Hibiki Ganaha in The iDOLM@STER)

A spin-off series titled The Slime Diaries will air between the two halves of season 2, giving fans around half-a-year’s worth of slime content!
